Tax Help for Self-Employed Owners
Filing Is Only Half the Job
Freelancers, 1099 Realtors, contractors, and small business owners: get a named Enrolled Agent who knows your business and plans with you all year, not just in April.
Is this you?
You work for yourself and file (or should be filing) a Schedule C.
You're a 1099 professional and aren't sure what you can deduct.
You never know how much to set aside, or whether you missed a quarterly payment.
You're tired of a different preparer every year who doesn't know your history.
Stay Compliant In Your Business
-
Fewer forms doesn't mean less taxable income.
-
The 1099-K reporting threshold went back to $20,000 and 200 transactions, so many people won't receive that form for smaller amounts. The income is still reportable.
-
The 1099-NEC and 1099-MISC threshold rises to $2,000 starting in 2026,** so some clients will pay you without sending a form. Your records need to be complete either way.
-
The Qualified Business Income (QBI) deduction is now permanent,** which makes long-term planning around it worthwhile.
-
100% bonus depreciation is back permanently** for qualifying business property acquired after January 19, 2025. Whether it helps you depends on your situation and cash flow.
-
Not sure how these apply to you? That's what our planning conversation is for.
How it works
1. Quick call. We learn about your income, expenses, and goals, and tell you what documents to gather.
2. We prepare and review. Your Enrolled Agent prepares your return and walks you through it.
3. You approve, we file. You sign electronically and we e-file federal and state returns.
4. We plan ahead. Before year-end, we schedule a short call so April holds no surprises.

Frequently asked questions
**Do I need to make quarterly estimated tax payments?**
Many self-employed people do, because no tax is withheld from their income. Whether you're required to, and how much to pay, depends on your income and last year's tax. We can work this out with you.
**I got a 1099-K. Do I report it?**
Yes, if it reflects business income. Receiving no form doesn't make income tax-free either. We'll help you sort what's business income from personal transfers.
What can I deduct as a self-employed person?
Ordinary and necessary business expenses, such as supplies, software, mileage, and a qualifying home office. Records matter, so we help you set up a simple system.
**I have a side business and a full-time job. Do I still need Schedule C?**
Generally yes, if you have net self-employment income. Side income is taxable even when it's small.
Should I form an LLC or S-corporation?
It depends on your profit level and goals. We'll review your numbers and explain the tradeoffs before you decide.
What if I own rental property too?
We prepare Schedule C and Schedule E together, so your business and rental income are planned as one picture.
What do I need to bring to the first meeting?
Last year's return if you have it, income records (1099s, bank or payment-app summaries), and a rough list of business expenses.
